ABOUT THE CREATOR
REO PRENDERGAST
CREATOR OF GLOOM & GLORY
Reo Prendergast is a Canadian artist, creative leader, and storyteller with more than two decades of experience working across feature film, television, animation, visual effects, and cinematic production.
Throughout his career, Reo has helped develop characters, creatures, and worlds for some of the entertainment industry's leading studios, including Industrial Light & Magic, Blizzard Entertainment, DNEG, Zoic Studios.
His work and leadership have contributed to productions including Dune: Part Two, WandaVision, netflix’s a series of unfortunate events, disney’s Percy Jackson, and Blizzard Entertainment's world of warcraft, StarCraft, and diablo FRANCHISES.
That experience — building characters and worlds as part of large creative teams — became the foundation for something more personal.
Gloom & Glory is the world he decided to build for himself.
-
Gloom & Glory began with a simple desire to create an original fantasy world without separating story from design.
Characters led to mythology. Mythology led to stories. Stories became an animated series concept. And the desire to let an audience actually inhabit that world eventually became a collectible card game.
Over time, those pieces grew into a single interconnected universe.
Today, Reo serves as the creator and creative lead of Gloom & Glory, guiding its world, characters, visual identity, story, and game development while building the foundation for a larger creative team to eventually take the universe further.
-
The philosophy behind Gloom & Glory is simple:
Build the world first.
Rather than beginning with a single product, Gloom & Glory has been developed as a mythology capable of supporting different kinds of experiences.
The animated series tells the stories of its characters.
The card game allows players to command its gods, creatures, heroes, and armies.
Future stories and experiences can explore parts of the world beyond either.
Different expressions. One mythology.

“I've spent much of my career helping bring other people's worlds to life. Gloom & Glory began as an opportunity to finally ask what kind of world I would build if it were entirely my own.
What started with characters and drawings grew into mythology, stories, a card game, and eventually an animated series concept. Somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn't developing a collection of ideas anymore. I was building a world.
I don't believe the next step is to try to make all of it myself. The ambition for Gloom & Glory is much larger than that. I want to bring together the artists, writers, designers, producers, and partners who can help turn what I've built into something we could never build alone.”
